The picture below shows Gunner doing what Maisy was doing, but she was venturing over by the window, which doesn't have a couch below. Remember when Gunner had no hair?

Climbing
Maisy is climber...just like my other kids. the other night she got up on the chair rail and was inching her way along by taking side steps. I didn't have the camera right by me and thought it might be safer to stand by her:)
For FREE
We just got a free jump castle on craigslist. The kids had so much fun. As you can see, I need to sew a few spots because there is air escaping, but it stayed inflated enough for us to enjoy some good jumping time in the backyard.
There's no business like SNOW business
Are my kids crazy?? Yes. They saw the snow start to fall and Gracie booked it upstairs to get her suit on. Gunner followed "suit"(he he). I'm the mean mom that said, "You are not going out there in your bathing suit". But then the nice dad said, "Go for it". Gracie went out and touched the slide, and ran back. Then she got up more courage and slid down the slide.
Gunner was still trying to figure out what was "fun" about it.
Good times in Colorado:)

EKG... Latest Cardiology Update
We went to the cardiologist this week. The last time we were there was in May. Maisy was scheduled for an EKG and an echo-cardiogram. They did the EKG and then Dr. Christensen came in. He said that the readings were so good he wasn't really interested in doing the echo. He said,
Really, if you want, you could just forget this whole thing ever happened
Loved the strained sitting up. She hates being still:) |
Maisy weighed 17.2 lbs. and is 14.5 months old. Still little, but they were fine with her growth and were wowed by her dr. seuss ponytail.
Happy Birthday!! Gunner turns 3!
Lucky Gunner, got to drive home for 7 hours on his birthday. It was a pretty good day, especially because it started off with Nanny making him some breakfast in bed.
I know he is a little "nakie" in this picture, but I loved the surprised look on Gunner's face. He was getting ready to get into jammies but I knew he had pajamas to open for his birthday.
Cute "woody" sporting his jammies. He also got a woody doll with a pull string that I miraculously found on craigslist (along with a big buzz and an RC).
And... the birthday cake. Gunner was on a big kick about wanting a monkey cake. It wasn't very pretty, but it passed for a monkey and we called it good.
My 3 favorite things about Gunner:
1) He is really polite and says thank you. He also repeats things back to me. If I say, "Gunner, you are a really special boy", he'll say, "Thanks mom, you're really special too." I love it.
2) He is getting to a great stage for learning and soaking up information. I'm getting a lot of questions and talks almost daily about how he will be going to pre-school next year.
3) He loves to tease his sisters. The other day I asked him to share a cookie with Gracie. He split it in half and said,"who wants the big piece?" Gracie said, "I do". To which he replied, "Nope, you get the little piece." He likes to tease Maisy too, which is really cute when he isn't too rough or tormenting. He also likes to tease me in a cute and playful way.

Getting our fill
We made it up to see the horses the day before we left. It was a lot of fun and the kids loved getting on horses. Maisy just started giggling in spite of herself as soon as she saw them. She screamed, squawked, or squirmed the entire time that she wasn't on a horse. I think we might have another spunky cowgirl on our hands.
Gracie picked it right up again. Like riding a bike. My heart ached a lit (Read: a lot) at the memory of taking Gracie up here all the time when she was Maisy's age. She did a lot of exploring and had a lot of exposure to horses and cows. I was wishing we lived in St.George and could take advantage of this great blessing all of the time. But... school is valuable too, right? That is why we were glad we got our fill for now.:)

Cookie
On our way home from SLC, I asked Gracie if she wanted a cookie. "They are really good", I said. To which, she responded, "Oh, no thank you. I'm trying to keep my hands off of sugar." It made us chuckle. And no... I am not responsible about sugar and she did not learn it from me.

Visiting the temple
We had fun going to the temple for FHE with Carrie's family while we were in St.George. Our kids don't get to see temples super often, so I love every experience they have with it. Gunner and Gracie kept saying how beautiful it was and Gunner said, "My want to get married here".
Gracie loved it too.
Gracie:I wish I could get married in the St. George temple.
Justin: You can
Gracie: But what if I can't remember where it is?
The visitor's center was closed for some cleaning and renovation, so we just peeked in from the outside.

For Carol Ann
We went to visit Great Grandma and Grandpa. They had a new toy for marbles that we were all fascinated by.
Great-Grandpa worked his magic charm with Miss Maisy.
And...the snacks still taste better when they come from a grandma.

Brandin' Iron New Years Eve
We went up to the Brandin' Iron on New Year's Eve for an early party. The Brandin' Iron is a restaurant in Pine Valley. I worked here when Justin and I first got married and when I was pregnant with Gracie. Jeff and Sara are the proud new owners, so they hosted a private party. Doesn't it sound exclusive and awesome? It was.
Maisy is walking everywhere these days and we noticed that she just cannot get enough of wood floors. She must think they are the best walking surface.
Carrie provided poppers for the kids and they had so much fun together.
It was a little nostalgic to be back at the Brandin' Iron. I have sweet memories of eating leftover beans and steak and working with some fun people. Thanks for a fun night.
BYU game
Maisy is getting better at snuggling. It makes me wonder what it is about certain people that she just instantly snuggles or gives hugs to. The same thing happened up North with some of my brothers and some of my uncles. Whatever it is, she makes a lot of friends when she does it. Maisy loves Jeff.
We loved exploring at Jeff and Sara's.
Ryder showed Maisy how to do all the "big kid" stuff.
These girls were pretty happy to be together again too.

Turning 30
3 years ago, I had my sister-in-law Kim's name for Christmas. I started this quilt, but didn't finish it in time. I thought that I might still finish it in time for Kim's 30th birthday, the following month. Well, Gunner was born and I didn't get it done. I've worked on this quilt here and there since and finally finished the actual quilt the week of my 30th birthday (with the just the binding left to complete). I finished the binding on Monday and gave the quilt to Kim. This is the Circle Jeans quilt that I posted directions for on my profi frau blog a few years back. It was a lot of work, but a lot of fun to make.
Christmas Day
We went to church at my sister Mary's ward and then came home to finish opening presents. It was a wonderful day and we all felt very blessed. Our kids were most excited about their very own package of icebreaker mints in their stockings. Isn't that funny? My nephew, Bentley, seemed most excited about the light saber chapstick he got in his stocking. It really is the little stuff that counts. Gracie's other favorite thing that she kept telling everyone about was the light wand that Gunner bought her at the dollar store:)
Christmas Eve
Christmas Eve was a nice day. No parties that were too big. We just got together with a few of my siblings and ate a simple dinner and played games. Christmas jammies were a hit.
I wrapped Gracie's and Gunner's pajamas in the haunted house gingerbread boxes. Gracie started crying when she got to that level. She didn't want another pagan gingerbread house. (see earlier post). She finally caught on when Gunner got to his pajamas, and she was thankful for all of her other Christmas gifts.
Did I mention that I made new stockings this year. It was fun. I might do a post about it later. or pictures of all of the stockings together.
