Like I said in my last post, I brought the kids to Salt Lake after the big move. As I looked at my camera, I realized that I did not have a single picture from that entire week. Looking back, I remember being exhausted for a few days after. It was nice to have a soft place to land after so much excitement and stress. These were definitely the highlights.
Saturday- Nanny had planned a fun trip to the zoo, but having arrived in SLC at about 10 or 11pm, we were glad when we woke up to rain, which meant a quiet and lazy day. We saw some cousins and relaxed.
Sunday- The kids were so excited to go to primary. My mom is in the primary presidency and was in charge of sharing time, so the kids enjoyed helping her prepare and execute her lesson. Maisy was a little unsure about all of the recent excitement, so I stayed in nursery with her.
We loved a giant Sunday dinner with all of my local sibs to celebrate birthdays. Bentley and Cares chose ribs, mashed potatoes, and all kinds of yummy things. I love my mom's cooking:) I always love the chaos of so many little cousins running around and it was so fun to see and visit with my family. It makes me wish we could be to Sunday dinner more often.
Monday- My parents left early for their SLC Temple assignment (they work in the temple every Monday morning and Wednesday evening). We drove to Layton to see Marinda and kids. We had a great visit and the kids had fun playing. It was so great to see Marinda. On the way home we stopped to see Heidi and her kids. Her new baby was so tiny and new (still under 6 lbs). I love to see my friends and it is so fun to see how life evolves through the years, and how we can pick up like yesterday. Makes me long to have some of my great friends as neighbors.
Tuesday- I think this is the day we went swimming with my dad at the Holladay Lyons club. It was great. The kids had a ball and Grandpa even bought them an ice cream cone on the way home!
Wednesday- I met up with Martha to do a temple session at the Salt Lake Temple. My parents were working that night and I enjoyed seeing them on the live session. Tom and Jess watched my kids and made it possible. Later that night, Flori and Rob and crew came into town. We visited for awhile and got kids to bed.
Thursday- I went walking with Flori and my mom. We visited with the Christensens and said goodbye, as they were on their way to Idaho. We met up with some friends at the park. It was really fun. Emily, Martha, and Tori were all there with kids in tow, and we had fun visiting and watching kids play. Gracie went on a special date with Nanny to T.J. Maxx. My cousin Dave's reception was that night, but Gunner and Maisy were both messes, so I stayed home and my mom took Gracie and Tillie to the reception while I put kids to bed.
Friday- We left early to drive to St. George. We waited a bit so Camille could drive with us. Boy, was I glad she did. Camille drove while I helped regulate Maisy, who kept climbing out of her buckled carseat (what a stinker!). We were reunited with Justin (XOXOXO) and drove right to Pine Valley where we roasted hot dogs over the fire and had s'mores. It was Justin's grandpa's 90th birthday, so we also had another treat and sang to him. :)
