Moving Day

And it must needs be that there is opposition in all things. Remember the happiest place on Earth? (See my graduation post). I feel like I am an optimist. I really try to be. But the worst and most stressful days of my life are usually tied to moving. We closed on the house and moved the day after graduation. Never do that.
But, in spite of all of our troubles (a truck that was too small with no bigger options to rent by the time we realized, loading most of our boxes and then unloading them- just to end up loading them back in the same truck, trouble finding a trailer, and then a flat tire once Justin and his dad were two hours down the road) we made it through! And now, a few months later, I can look at some of my pictures or a U-Haul truck and not feel totally sick inside.
We packed the U-Haul, which pulled a trailer, and Justin drove our Nissan. We also loaded the truck with kids and all of the stuff we would need for a month long trip to Utah. We gave away a ton of stuff, and I was so happy to have friends who we love that could take some of our extra furniture (which wouldn't have really fit  in our new house very well anyway). We also fit a ton of stuff, thanks to Justin, Larry, our 5 million apple boxes and our extra trailer :)
And, who was making everything happen? My amazing visitors. I love my in-laws. With all of the U-Haul drama, I was on the phone trying to resolve issues. I was holding kids who were shot from staying up until midnight (yes, you read that right) the night of graduation. Carol Ann, Kim, and Camille were so incredibly helpful and I could not have done it without them.

So, in the end, Larry and Justin drove to Texas with almost everything and without a living situation secured there. I left with the kids in the truck. We did a caravan with Justin's mom and sisters and Kim rode with us most of the way. It was so nice. I drove to Salt Lake to spend a week with my family.
* Photo credits to Larry and Kim for everything but the first picture. We would have had about 2 pictures of the move if it were not for them :)
